Ignite Peaceful Dreams

Do you remember your dreams?

Dreams are our subconscious’s way of processing our thoughts and emotions from the day.  This is really important and almost serves as a detoxing for us on another level.  Many of our dreams do not make sense but for centuries people have interpreted them and tried to understand the meanings behind them.

One of the most common dreams people have is their teeth falling out.  This normally means you have anxiety over something, or can also be a loss of sense of independence or powerlessness. Pay close attention to the other parts of your dream – who else was with you, what were you doing, how did you feel?  There could be a hidden message inside for you.

Most of our dreams occur when we fall into REM sleep, which is normally around 90 minutes after we fall asleep - and then in 90 minute cycles after that.  REM is important to your sleep cycle because it stimulates the areas of your brain that are essential in learning and making or retaining memories.

Those that have trouble sleeping or wake a lot during the night may not have as much REM as they need, and this can contribute to many forms of disease.

So, how do we get that all important REM?  What is the best way to get your body ready for sleep?

  • When the sun goes down and it starts to become dark our bodies start to produce melatonin - this is like a natural sleeping pill that tells us that it’s time for bed.  If you have trouble going to sleep, then try dimming the lights down in your house an hour or so before you want to go to bed to get that melatonin releasing.  Sorry, but screens in your face will not help either.  Turn your device to blue light mode or grab a book instead.
  • Essential oils like Lavender can help with relaxation. Use diluted Lavender on pulse points or spray around your bed and on your pillow before bed.
  • Meditation or Yoga Nidra can help relax your mind and body.  Listen to a relaxing meditation just before you go to bed - you might find yourself drifting off before you finish it!
  • Belly Breathing is another way to calm your body.  By breathing from deep in your belly you will massage all your organs which automatically puts your body into a calm state, ready for sleep.

Sleep is the one thing that most people don’t get enough of, and it is so important for our general health and wellbeing.  Don’t feel guilty for getting those 8 hours in!

Our November Dreams box will take you on a journey of relaxation and intention setting to help you fall into a deep sleep with the most beautiful dreams.  We have created a night time ritual with the beautiful products inside to help you relax into sleep.
