Lavender oil for your skin
Acne: Lavender is incredible for acne. It inhibits the bacteria that cause the skin infection, helps to rebalance the over-secretion of sebum which in turn helps reduce blocked pores and oils that the bacteria live on!
Scarring: Often the aftermath of acne, Lavender can help reduce scarring and speed up healing of acne. It is commonly used to speed up the healing process of wounds, cuts, burns, and sunburns because it improves the formation of scar tissues.
Inflammation: often combined with chamomile to treat eczema, and inflamed skin. Also helps with the inflammation that occurs in acne.
Complexion: Lavender balances sebum production which can improve complexion, this doesn’t only include acne, often our skin is out of balance in multiple ways. Moisturisers often are a mask causing an underlying issue, some people will find that when switching to an oil from conventional moisturisers the skin will have a minor freakout as it’s never been allowed to do it’s own thing and soak in some goodness. This is called a detox!
Dry Skin: A few drops of lavender oil added to a carrier oil can help alleviate the itching and dryness caused by eczema, or milder dry skin conditions.
Sun Exposure: Lavender oil holds many soothing properties that are perfect for calming occasional skin irritations. If you’ve spent a little too much time in the sun and find your skin irritated, reach for a bottle of Lavender essential oil.
Bonus: I read this recently and wanted to share, for some reason after consistently using my Astral Oil which has Lavender as the hero ingredient my eyelashes have gotten incredibly long. The Natural Medicines Comprehensive Database (NMCB) says that lavender is possibly effective for treating alopecia areata (hair loss), boosting hair growth by up to 44 percent after just seven uses, coincidence? I'm not sure but I'm not complaining either.
Lavender oil for mental benefits
Relax: the ancient Romans and Egyptians often used Lavender oil aromatically for relaxation purposes, and you can too. Try Lavender dropped into a warm bath. You can also apply Lavender to your temples and back of the neck to enjoy its relaxing aroma and help melt away feelings of stress or tension
Sleep: sleep better and be more alert during the day, Lavender oil either dropped on your pillows, or placed in a diffuser can help to induce sleep.
Nervous system: Lavender essential oil has a calming scent which makes it an excellent tonic for the nerves and anxiety issues. It can also be helpful in treating migraines, headaches, depression, nervous tension and emotional stress.
Uplifting: The refreshing aroma aids nervous exhaustion and restlessness while also increasing mental activity. It has a well-researched impact on the autonomic nervous system, which is why it is frequently used as a treatment for insomnia and also as a way to regulate heart-rate variability.
